Opnet Simulator Free Download; Download Opnet Modeler Software. MetaProducts Download Express is a Windows program that allows you to download individual files. Opnet Simulation Tool for Device to Device communication: D2D communications is about enabling the direct flow of data between devices. In contrast to Human-to-Human (H2H) communications, D2D communications do not require human interaction.
OPNET is a company the develops network simulation and analysis software. They offer a free academic version of IT Guru. SIIT also has a single user license for the full version of OPNET Modeler. Here you can find a collection of my resources for using OPNET software.
Usually I will use OPNET to refer to OPNET Modeler software, and IT Guru for the free OPNET IT Guru Academic Edition. A short description of the differences between Modeler and IT Guru is available.

Workshop
Mathrubhumi calendar 1993 pdf. I have given several presentations introducing OPNET to selected students/researchers. With the support of TRIDI and PSU, I have prepared a workshop on Introduction to OPNET Modeler. The workshop material includes:
- PDF Slides. Available as a printable, black and white, 4 slides per page handout, or in full colour presentation style separated by topic:
- Example models. The following models (as well as some of example networks included in OPNET) were used during the workshop to demonstrate key concepts:
- Ethernet/WLAN project was developed by the participants during parts 2 and 3 of the workshop.
- Sensor Network project was used in part 4 to demonstrate how process models work.
- Wireless Mesh Network and WLAN Hotspot projects were used to demonstrate different OPNET capabilies throughout the workshop.

Models
All OPNET Modeler projects available below unpack into their own directory. That is, if you save the file in your op_models directory as file.project.tgz and then extract, a new directory file.project will be created with the project files inside. For node and process models, a subdirectory is not created. The necessary files would be extract to the op_models directory. Be careful you don't overwrite any of your existing files.
Note that some models required a password to download. Please contact me if you've forgotten the password.
OPNET Modeler
- Ethernet/WLAN project
- Several scenarios with a small switched Ethernet network with 2 PCs and a server, connected to a IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN with 2 laptops and an AP. The scenarios differ based on the application traffic used. One scenario includes an application demand. In addition there are scenarios for a 4 host ad hoc wireless LAN. This demonstrates the use of promoting node attributes to global input attributes so the traffic generation rate can be set as a simulation parameter, i.e. multiple simulations run at once.
Download: Project (OPNET Modeler 16.0) - Sensor Network project
- Based on the Sensor Network project provided by OPNET in one of their tutorials, this project models a sensor network with multiple sensors sending periodic updates to a central controller. This project is used to demonstrate process models. The original project requires minor code edits to make it work; the reference project contains those necessary code edits. In addition, there are the separate node models.

- A simple model of several IEEE 802.11 nodes in a MANET to demonstrate a wireless mesh network. There is also a Zigbee network with several end devices and a Zigbee router. Wireless LAN hosts are running web, file transfer and video applications. This project also demonstrates use of custom icons on nodes. The icons used in the project, as well as others, are available for download. You may need to update your OPNET path for icons for the custom icons to be displayed.

- Based on the OPNET provided WLAN example network, this model includes a set of subnets modelling different sites (hotspots) across Bangkok area. Each site has some wireless hosts and AP. Demonstrates wireless LAN as well as using maps.
Download: Project (OPNET Modeler 16.0) - Ethernet Packet Generation
- Example of packet generation using simple source/sink (rather than applications) in an Ethernet network. Also illustrates the promotion of attributes to global level so they can be set as simulation parameters.
